
Theatre Centre runs the Brian Way Award for the best new play for children and young people to promote and celebrate the achievements of playwrights who write for young audiences. This year’s award is for a new play which was professionally produced between 1 October 2011 and 31 January 2013.
Submitted plays should be by a playwright who is based in the UK. The plays should also:
- be suitable for age groups up to the age of eighteen
- be at least forty-five minutes long
- have been professionally produced (paid professional actors and creative team in line with ITC/TMA rates of pay)
- have been publicly performed for the first time in the UK either in schools or venues between 1 October 2011 and 31 January 2013
A writer who has previously received the award cannot reapply. Previously submitted plays will not be considered.
Prize: £6,000
Deadline: 31 May 2013 at 12 noon
