Futurespark; How It Ended Productions - Deadline: May 20, 2013
Futurespark, a festival that showcases emerging new writing talent.
How It Ended Productions are looking for writers of any age or experience to submit 10 minutes plays, which if selected will be allocated a professional director and performed in front of a live audience at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts in Luton, on the 11th and 12th July 2013.
All plays must be inspired, however indirectly, on the Festiveal theme: Carnival
- Your piece must be no longer than 10 minutes in duration.
- Basic sound/lighting and minimal props.
- Extracts or adaptation will not be accepted.
- Attach your work in a PDF or Word document.

Theatre Breaks Festival; Tiny Dog Productions - Deadline: April 24, 201
Submissions are now open for the 6th Theatre Breaks Festival of New writing
Theatre Breaks is comprised of a series of new writing nights and will serve as a platform for theatre companies to perform their one act plays. Each show will run for no longer than 20 minutes and will be performed back to back for three consecutive nights. The festival will be hosted at The Honor Oak, Forest Hill, SE London (SE23 1RH)
They are currently accepting submissions from practitioners who wish to participate and are looking for six productions in total. Be it a show in development, a short one act play or part of full-length completed production, all are welcome in the festival.
How to apply:
- Successful companies/directors will be notified by 26th April 2013.
- There will be a mandatory meeting on the 29th April, 2013 at 7pm @ The Honor Oak, Forest Hill, SE London (SE23 1RH) for all successful applicants. One person (Director/Producer) must attend from each production.
- They can only accept one submission per writer/company/director.
- Plays must be no longer than 20 minutes.
- All submissions MUST be in English.
- The event is open to anyone, no previous experience necessary they are looking for submissions from a diverse range of applicants.
- Tiny Dog Productions will provide the Performance venue - including basic lighting and sound, a technical operator if necessary, marketing and support to directors/companies within reason. ALL aspects of casting, rehearsal and direction will be the responsibility of the applicant.
- Directors/companies will be required to provide all set and costume.

Brian Way Award 2013 Theatre Centre - Deadline: May 31, 2013
Theatre Centre runs the Brian Way Award for the best new play for children and young people to promote and celebrate the achievements of playwrights who write for young audiences. This year’s award is for a new play which was professionally produced between 1 October 2011 and 31 January 2013.
Submitted plays should be by a playwright who is based in the UK. The plays should also:
- be suitable for age groups up to the age of eighteen
- be at least forty-five minutes long
- have been professionally produced (paid professional actors and creative team in line with ITC/TMA rates of pay)
- have been publicly performed for the first time in the UK either in schools or venues between 1 October 2011 and 31 January 2013
A writer who has previously received the award cannot reapply. Previously submitted plays will not be considered.
Prize: £6,000
Deadline: 31 May 2013 at 12 noon
